BCom students earn several podium finishes at Happening Marketing

Congratulations to the 33 Desautels BCom students who competed at 2021 Happening Marketing, the largest marketing games in Canada. The 平特五不中 delegation was led by Marie-No毛lle Carrier and C茅dric Jutras from the Desautels Management Case Competition (DMCC). 平特五不中 finished with a total of five podiums at the virtual competition;

BCom student finishes third at L鈥橭r茅al Brandstorm 2021 competition

Congratulations to Desautels BCom student Rachel Wisnia and her teammates from Concordia University for finishing in third place at L鈥橭r茅al Brandstorm 2021. Wisnia and her team (coached by BCom Career Coach Peg Brunelle) tackled the topic of making shopping for cosmetics engaging in a virtual setting. A total of 149 teams took part in the competition.

MBA students place third at Wharton鈥檚 2021 People Analytics Case Competition

Congratulations聽to Desautels MBA students聽Beatriz Otero Russo Villaca,聽Christopher Bahen-Taitand and Melissa Palumbo聽for placing third at the Wharton鈥檚 People Analytics Case Competition. The team virtually showcased their findings to a panel of judges including representatives from Teach for America, academics and industry experts.

MMF students win CFA Institute鈥檚 Research Challenge

Five Master of Management in Finance (MMF) students are off to the regional round of CFA Institute鈥檚 Research Challenge, an annual global competition that provides students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis and professional ethics. Facing stiff competition from HEC Montreal and Concordia University, Zirui (Bruce) Chen, Huiru (Audrey) Wu, Neil Wiacek, Chen (Andy) Yu and Haiwen Luo formed the team that came out on top.

BCom team wins Canadian Finals of Accuracy Business Cup

Congratulations to BCom students Shelley Sorkin, Dixon Wong, and Angel Miao who won the National Finals of the Accuracy Business Cup case competition. The team will be representing Canada at the virtual international finals on March 12 to compete against seven other countries. Thanks to Melissa Sonberg, Desautels Professor of Practice, for coaching and mentoring the team.

BCom students win National Finals of KPMG Ideation Challenge

Congratulations to Desautels BCom students Reda Ouazzani Touhami and James Xu, and their teammates from Concordia University and Western University, for winning the National Finals of the KPMG Ideation Challenge. Over 750 applications were submitted for the Canadian finals of the competition. The team will compete for the global title in April when each country will present their solution/prototype to a panel of industry judges.

The Financial Open Case Competition, the second largest case competition across eastern Canada, reunited over 350 participants from 11 universities to compete on accounting and finance related academic cases. Desautels BCom students attain nine podiums at 2021 Jeux du Commerce

Congratulations to Desautels BCom students for their outstanding performance at this year鈥檚 Jeux du Commerce (JDC), the largest student case competition in Eastern Canada. For the first time, JDC took place fully online and brought together 700 participants from 11 universities.

Desautels team reaches semifinal round of impact200

A team of Desautels students and alumni has reached the semifinal round of impact200, 平特五不中鈥檚 Bicentennial Sustainability Challenge for students and recent alumni. The winning team, which includes analytics BCom students, Master of Management in Analytics (MMA) students, Desautels alumni, and a software engineer student, created a platform that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance food security in Montreal.

93 student teams tackle social inequality and protectionism at MIPC 2020

The fourth annual 平特五不中 International Portfolio Challenge invited 93 student teams from 18 countries to compete to solve a complex portfolio construction problem. This year鈥檚 case study challenged participants to invest a fictitious sovereign wealth fund in a way that addressed social inequalities and protectionism in the wake of Brexit.

Desautels students earn all three podium places at Global Goals Jam Case Competition

平特五不中 graduate student Michael Bourkas (MBA鈥22) has taken home first place in the Global Goals Jam Case Competition at the Smith School of Business at Queen鈥檚 University, with peers Conor Grieve (MBA鈥21) and Nandini Biswas Jain (MBA鈥22) following close behind in second and third places, respectively.
