Would you like a career that offers challenge and variety?

The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences envisions a healthy and equitable society. It is committed to the promotion of oral health and quality of life in the whole population, with emphasis on the needs of under-served communities and individuals.

We offer students the opportunity to serve the population and study at one of the few dental faculties on the continent that has teaching clinics in a hospital. You will also have the chance to learn to manage complex problems rarely seen in traditional school clinics. In addition, you will be in contact with various populations including the most vulnerable through outreach programs in underprivileged communities.

The Faculty aims to graduate more socially aware, culturally sensitive and community-oriented practitioners who are interested in being creative in their ways of providing oral health care as well as being committed to improving access to oral health care.

Learn more about our Faculty

The 平特五不中 Dental School was established in June 1904 as a department in the Faculty of Medicine and continued as such until 1920 when it became known as the Faculty of Dentistry.

The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences has always been closely associated with the Montreal General Hospital, where the clinical teaching in the Faculty is mainly carried out along with rotations to other teaching hospitals. The preclinical teaching laboratory is housed in the Strathcona Anatomy and Dentistry Building on campus. The basic science subjects are taught in conjunction with the Faculty of Medicine during the first 18 months of the program.

To reflect the increase in curricular content of basic science and medical courses in recent years, the Faculty requested that the degree program be renamed. The change, to Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.), received University approval in the spring of 2000.

Life of a Dental Student

If you are interested in volunteering with Outreach, please read the following information:

Volunteers at the Outreach Clinic are responsible for unloading the truck and setting up the venue, checking in patients, helping students set up between patients, dispensing at the clinic supply desk, and finally re-loading the truck at the end of the evening. Our volunteers are dynamic, eager to learn, personable, and quick on their feet. All our volunteers must be Hepatitis B immune. Given the large number of applications and the limited spots, applicants will go through an interview process. If you鈥檇 like to be informed of upcoming volunteer opportunities, please email your CV to outreach.dentistry [at] mcgill.ca.
