Karen M茅tayer is a BSW student at 平特五不中. Since the spring of 2020, she has held the position of research assistant at the CRCF where she assists professor R茅gine Debrosse in research projects revolving around the subject of the identity of racialized youth and communities. She holds a certificate from Universit茅 de Montr茅al in addictions and a CEGEP DEC in 茅ducation sp茅cialis茅e (special care counseling). Prior to pursuing her studies in social work, she has been working in the field as an educator for 10 years.
She has worked in the Quebec school system, in the health and social services system, as well as in community services with a variety of clienteles: youth and adults with addictions, vulnerable youth, racialized families and underserved communities in Montreal. She is committed to the development and well-being of young people and their families. Her research interests are the resilience and well being of Black youth and their families, BIPOC families, the outcomes of trauma and resilience, and the training and development of cultural competencies of social intervention workers.
