Dr. Alexandre Fortier and Dr. Elaine M茅nard to receive Best Overall Paper award

Dr. Alexandre Fortier and Dr. Elaine M茅nard received The Best Overall Paper award for the highest ranked submission at the 46th Annual Conference of the Canadian Association for Information Science (CAIS) for their paper entitled "Quelles donn茅es satisferaient les utilisateurs de sites web de mus茅es?". Award papers are being presented on the first day of the conference (May 30, 2018) between 10:00-noon.

The complete paper will be published in an upcoming edition of the Journal of Information and Library Science (CJILS).

SIS Faculty member Benjamin Fung appointed Associate Editor at the Elsevier Sustainable Cities and Society

笔谤辞蹿.听Benjamin Fung has been appointed Associate Editor at the Elsevier Sustainable Cities and Society (SCS) for a 3-year term from December 2017. SCS is an international journal focusing on fundamental and applied research aimed at designing, understanding, and promoting environmentally sustainable and socially resilient cities.

School of Information Studies is pleased to announce Jonathan Dorey successfully defended his PhD

The School of Information Studies is pleased to announce that on December 8, 2017 Jonathan Dorey successfully defended his PhD in the School of Information Studies at 平特五不中. His thesis is entitled 鈥淎rchival interaction: a framework to assess university archives websites from the perspectives of history undergraduate students.鈥澨� The goal of this exploratory research is to provide an exhaustive portrait of the effectiveness and efficiency of Canadian university archives websites by extending to a Canadian context similar research that was done in the United States.

Professors Jamshid Beheshti and Joan Bartlett have received a 2016 SSHRC Insight Development Grant on Towards a Model of Metaliteracy for Academic and Everyday-Life Information Seeking and Use

The goal of the proposed research is to investigate the metaliteracy knowledge and skills of millennials when seeking and using information not only for academia but also for their day-to-day lives. 听The metaliteracy construct encompasses the traditional scholarly information as well as alternative digital contents delivered through the Web, social media, wikis, blogs, etc. The target population of the study is the undergraduate students at different stages of their studies and across multiple disciplines.

SIS Faculty member received 2016 SSHRC Insight Development Grant

Dr. Catherine Guastavino, Associate Professor and William Dawson Scholar, has received a 2016 SSHRC Insight Development Grant in collaboration with Ville de Montreal and Dumoulin Acoustics. Prof. Benjamin Fung of the School of Information Studies receives the Service Award from the IEEE 2016 International Conference on Data Science and Advanced Analytics (DSAA鈥�2016)

On October 18, 2016, as a Local Arrangement Chair, prof. Fung听received the Service Award from the IEEE 2016 International Conference on Data Science and Advanced Analytics (DSAA鈥�2016). The award comes with free registrations for the conference in the next three years.

Prof. Fung would like to congratulate his PhD students at SIS who served as volunteers at听the conference, he shares this honour with them. 听

SIS PhD student Fei Shu awarded FRQSC Doctoral Fellowship for research on bibliometric database comparison

Congratulations to 平特五不中 School of Information Studies PhD student Fei Shu on receiving a FRQSC Doctoral Fellowship.

Fei鈥檚 research investigates the difference between Web of Science and local Chinese bibliometric databases and contributes to understanding of whether international bibliometric databases can be used to evaluate national research performance.

Fei's supervisors are Dr. Charles-Antoine Julien and Dr. Vincent Larivi猫re, EBSI, UdeM.
