Dr. Tamara Carver followed an unusual path to the Department of Family Medicine at 平特五不中. She completed her Bachelor鈥檚 and Master鈥檚 degrees at Concordia University in the Department of Exercise Science, specializing in clinical exercise physiology. After earning her PhD from 平特五不中鈥檚 Faculty of Education in 2014, she was presented with an opportunity to do her postdoctoral studies in the Department of Family Medicine. Six years later, she is the Education Lead of the Family Medicine Innovations in Learning (FMIL) Program and an Assistant Professor in the Department.

Dr. Nadia Sourial had long contemplated the idea of pursuing her PhD, but wanted to be sure of its purpose prior to embarking on the journey. After working with Dr. Howard Bergman, former Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, and Dr. Isabelle Vedel, Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director for the Master's program in the Department of Family Medicine, for eight years as a biostatistician, and gaining experience working at Health Canada in Ottawa, Dr. Sourial decided it was the right time to steer her career towards academic research. The Canadian Institutes of Health Research鈥檚 (CIHR) Institute of Indigenous Peoples鈥 Health has awarded a CAD$3.5 million operating grant to Dr. Treena Wasont铆:io Delormier of 平特五不中鈥檚 School of Human Nutrition.
