The 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth Mentorship Program is tailored to create supportive networks specifically for 2SLGBTQIA+ and gender diverse CEGEP students as you navigate your educational journeys. In this program, you'll be matched with mentors from 平特五不中's 2SLGBTQIA+ and gender diverse community, including faculty, students, or alumni who share similar interests.

You are currently pursuing studies at the CEGEP level and considering advancing to university? Receive consistent and reliable mentorship from 2SLGBTQIA+ 平特五不中 students, faculty and alumni. Form a meaningful bond with a 平特五不中 member identifying with 2SLGBTQIA+ community who faced unique challenges themselves in transitioning into university life聽

Become a mentor!

Collaborate on mentoring sessions with 2SLGBTQIA+ Community Outreach Ambassador, to support your mentee as they explore their interests and discover "What are the next steps in my educational path as a 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth?" Take part in mentors' training sessions and actively participate in culturally relevant workshops, activities, and discussions.聽

  • You are currently pursuing studies at the CEGEP level and considering advancing to university.聽

  • You recognize yourself as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ and/or gender-diverse community.聽

  • You are committed to maintaining a strong connection with a mentor.聽

Eligible mentors:聽

  • Embrace a mentorship mindset and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.聽

  • Naturally connect with fellow students, providing assistance as needed.聽

  • Exhibit qualities of patience, sympathy, and resourcefulness.聽

  • Collaborate willingly and commit to regular follow-ups with the program assistant.聽

  • As representation is vital, 2SLGBTQIA+ 平特五不中 students, faculty and alumni are strongly encouraged to apply.聽

Meet Twisha聽

Twisha Singh (she/her) works as the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community Ambassador at the Branches Program and is committed to facilitating a supportive environment for 2SLGBTQIA+ students at 平特五不中. Twisha aids and connects students from 2SLGBTQIA+ communities with necessary and essential resources both on and off-campus, ensuring their holistic well-being. Twisha works with 2SLGBTQIA+ students as well as for their needs and interests, effectively communicating their concerns to the university to help foster a culture of inclusivity and understanding, as well as develop mentorship programs and other initiatives to help support 2SLGBTQIA+ students on their journey to post-secondary education. Twisha holds a PhD in South Asian History, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, her academic pursuits enhance her understanding of the complex social dynamics at play for 2SLGBTQIA+ students. Twisha's commitment to the well-being and empowerment of 2SLGBTQIA+ students and communities arises from a dedication to promoting social justice, equity, and diversity within the academic sphere.

Making a Difference: Your Support for the Youth Mentorship Program

As part of the Inclusive Futures pilot program, the Youth Mentorship Program pairs 2SLGBTQIA+, and gender diverse CEGEP students with 平特五不中 students, faculty, and alumni. Participants receive mentorship on university applications, financial aid, campus life, academic programs, and career paths. The program includes meetings, workshops, and events for academic and professional development, addressing specific challenges faced by 2SLGBTQIA+ and gender diverse students. 平特五不中 faculty mentors, who also identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ and gender diverse, offer guidance and support.聽
