What is AMI?
The Faculty of Arts Internship Mentorship Initiative (AMI) was created in collaboration with the Arts Undergraduate Society (AUS) to form a student network of past and future interns. Students who have completed internships in the past (AMI Mentors) will guide students (AMI Mentees) who want to apply for an internship or internship funding through the Arts Internship Office. The goal is to foster a more in-depth, personalized mentor-mentee relationship between students.听听
How does it work?听
Students returning from past AIO or ARIA internships are matched with mentees, interested in an internship for the next summer. Our signup sheet matches mentees with an AMI mentor.
We will match mentors and mentees and will notify the matching results by email. Once matched, there will be events and opportunities for mentors and mentees to meet.听
Eligibility and Expectations
Mentor
Students who have successfully completed an internship听or received internship awards听through the Faculty of Arts Internship Office听can sign up for听AMI听mentors.听听听听
As mentors, students will also receive an official extra-curricular recognition on My Involvement, practice leadership and interpersonal skills through coaching, communication, active listening, and help a fellow Arts student .听
AMI Mentors are expected to:听
- Communicate听with your mentee(s)听as soon as you receive their coordinates听
- Schedule at least one meeting with your mentee(s)听
- Listen actively and answer their questions听听
- Share your internship insights and be open to give advice听
- Share your personal experience in a way to evoke mentee(s)鈥檚 reflection rather than give specific advice听
- Don鈥檛 hesitate to re-contact your mentee even when you haven鈥檛 heard from them in a while听
- Voluntary participation for AMI events
Mentee
All 平特五不中 Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Arts & Science students are eligible to sign up as听a mentees.
How to apply听
Students can apply to be either a mentee or mentor (from September to October) by filling out the application form found on our website. Matching results will be notified by email.
