Overview
The Minor in Quebec Studies and Community-Engaged learning will provide you with a聽better聽understanding of Quebec鈥檚 history and culture.聽You will take core courses within the department and a selection of other complementary courses聽in聽areas like political science,聽Canadian聽studies,聽French聽language and聽literature,聽and聽history.聽聽
In this unique聽program聽you can聽take聽advantage of a community engagement approach聽to learning聽within the Montreal community.聽In聽collaboration聽with聽the Social Equity and Diversity Education (SEDE) Office, you聽can聽link academic course content with a hands-on experience within a Montreal community organization.聽Explore聽issues related to聽equity, diversity, and inclusion within the Montreal context.聽聽
You鈥檒l need a basic understanding of聽the聽French聽language聽in this program聽as several core courses are taught in French, but you聽can submit your coursework in either聽French or English.聽This is a great opportunity to immerse yourself and improve your French comprehension skills.聽

Each summer the Quebec Studies聽program offers internships and work placements to聽平特五不中鈥檚 Faculty of Arts students in collaboration with the Arts Internship Office.聽You could work in a leading Quebec institution, like聽L鈥橧nstitut聽du聽Nouveau聽Monde, F茅d茅ration des聽travailleurs du Qu茅bec (FTQ), Le Devoir, Assembl茅e nationale聽du Qu茅bec.聽
