Overview
The聽Specialization in Plant production will provide聽you聽with a聽strong聽foundation聽of聽knowledge and skills relating to the biology and physiology, breeding, propagation, and management of domesticated plants. The plant industry聽in聽rural and urban settings is an increasingly important聽sector聽of聽Canadian and global economies.聽You will take core courses聽in areas like plant pathology,聽propagation聽and breeding, along with your choice of聽complementary聽courses. These can聽include聽urban horticulture, greenhouse management,聽biocontrol of pest insects, and more.聽This program will equip you with the skills to successfully cultivate聽and care for聽all kinds of plants.聽
This specialization must be taken with a major in the BSc(AgEnvSc). The recommended major is Agro-Environmental Sciences.
Careers
Graduates may find employment directly with plants in horticulture or in field crop development, production and聽management;聽or in government services, extension, teaching, consulting or post-graduate studies. When taken in conjunction with the Major in Agro-Environmental Sciences and the Specialization in Professional Agrology, this specialization conforms with the eligibility requirements for the聽Ordre聽des聽agronomes聽du Qu茅bec.聽
