Persian Language

Overview

You can pursue聽a minor聽in Arabic, Persian, Turkish聽or聽Urdu聽through the Islamic Studies聽Institute.聽Whichever language you choose, you鈥檒l receive聽comprehensive training in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.聽

You can enter the minor in聽Persian聽no matter what聽your聽level of experience聽is聽with the language.聽If you have no prior knowledge of Persian, you鈥檒l聽start with introductory courses that teach you how to understand and communicate at a聽basic聽level.聽

As your skills develop, you鈥檒l聽be introduced to increasingly complex texts, and聽can聽start聽exploring聽culturally significant Persian media.聽聽聽

Student Experience

You鈥檒l have access to a聽library equipped with some of the most important manuscripts and reference materials of Islamic Studies, offered through 平特五不中 and the University of Tehran. The Tehran Branch has produced over 100 volumes of major works by Islamic-Iranian scholars, many of which are accompanied by introductions and translations into foreign languages.聽聽

Though the library itself is in聽the聽University聽of Tehran, many publications put out by the branch have been digitalized and聽can聽be accessed through the Tehran Branch Publications page.聽聽聽
