Can renewables become the dominant source of electricity in Canada and the USA?
"Rapid innovation听and growth in renewable energy",听a talk by MIT's Jessika Trancik
Renewable energy听technologies have sustained high growth rates over the past 30 years [1], with听solar and wind energy production growing at roughly 30% per year, due to a听combination of technology cost improvement and public policy incentives. This听presentation will share new research that has听uncovered reasons for these听unprecedented fast rates of improvement, and has probed the prospects for听renewable energy to produce a significant share of global electricity. This is听a critical time in the development trajectories of clean energy technologies,听and in global efforts to mitigate climate change.听As the data suggest, a听technology transition may be within reach.
