Status: 颁翱惭笔尝贰罢贰顿听January 2013 - April 2014
Like cities and people everywhere, 平特五不中 and Montreal rely on ecosystem services 鈥� the benefits that听people obtain from ecosystems. These include food, energy, clean air and water, climate regulation, places听for recreation, and cultural inspiration. Despite our reliance on them, we are often unaware of where these听services come from, how important they are to our well-being, or how our everyday activities impact them.听This is especially true for city-dwellers, who are relatively removed from the natural world. The 鈥淢ontreal 脿 Votre Service鈥γ塩ologique鈥� SPF Project will fill this gap by creating an interactive, dynamic, bilingual,听鈥榖log鈥�-style website to tell the stories of the ecosystem services (ES) of Montreal. The goal is听to engage with and educate 平特五不中ians and Montrealers about听the ES they use. The group will produce at least two stories each week,听with many contributions from 平特五不中 clubs and classes, create an听interactive map of ES used and produced on the island, and train听undergraduate students as project ambassadors.
