Program Requirements

Ce programme de 15 unités menant à un certificat de deuxième cycle offre aux enseignants non autochtones actifs un perfectionnement professionnel visant à accroître leur efficacité comme enseignant dans les communautés des autochtones. Le programme aborde des sujets particulièrement importants dans les écoles des autochtones, tels que la socialisation culturelle, les approches d’enseignement culturellement adéquates, l’enseignement d’une langue seconde et l’histoire des peuples autochtones et de leurs cultures.

    Programmes d’études et formation : Principles of cooperative learning and how they may be applied in Indigenous schools to the creation of effective classroom activities and to the development of culturally appropriate learning materials. Referring to culturally grounded learning styles, appropriate teaching styles will be examined. Critical pedagogy will be emphasized.

  • EDEM 503 Research Seminar In Indigenous Studies (3 unités)

    EDEM Études en sciences de l’administration et en politiques publiques en éducation : Provides an opportunity for a more substantial and in depth analysis of a topic of interest in Indigenous education. Strengthens students critical and research skills and deepens their understanding of Indigenous issues. Each step of the research is investigated in the seminar as well as through relevant scholarly readings. The culminating exercise will be the presentation of the research in a panel forum.
