Hispanic Studies (Arts) : Overview of Spanish linguistics, focusing on the properties of sounds and the rules that govern their combinations (phonology), the structure of words (morphology), phrases, and sentences (syntax). Basic discussion of how some of these rules vary across varieties of Spanish.

HISP 410 Investigating Spanish Grammar (3 credits)
Overview
Hispanic Studies (Arts) : Hands-on training in the linguistic investigation of the grammar of Spanish. Topics include: the use of nouns without determiners and the determiner system, the position of adjectives, tense and aspect, object pronouns, constructions with "se", and word order and the expression of information structure.
