Residence Councils

There are many opportunities for leadership in the residence community, and these positions聽often lead to other pivotal roles as leading citizens of the University. The eight or ten months spent living in residence seems short, but it is a full and dynamic period in a young person's life, producing rich friendships and a deep sense of shared values that lasts throughout the years spent at 平特五不中.

An excellent way to become involved in residence life is through a position on one of the residence councils. Councils organize social events and advocate student interests to the Residence and 平特五不中 administration. What's more, Residence Councils work with 平特五不中 administration on key policy issues.聽A position on council is a great way聽to develop leadership and communication skills, meet tons of new people.

Residence Councils and Committees

Hall Council

Students within the same residence meet and plan fun and inclusive events and address issues on behalf of the students from their building. Classic Hall Council events include the Douglas Yuleball, Coffeehouse, and pumpkin carving!

Inter-Residence Council (IRC)

Students from every residence plan events for all residence students and address issues on their behalf. Ambassadors from each hall committee will also sit on the council.

University-Residence Council (URC)

Students meet with the SHHS administration on a monthly basis to discuss the concerns of their residence and make change.

Environmental Residence Council (ERC)

Students representatives from each residence building work towards implementing sustainable initiatives in residences like compost, waste reduction, and saving energy! Other events put on by ERC including clothing swaps, sustainability clubs fair, FairTrade brownie baking, and planting events!

Community Equity and Engagement Committee (CEEC)

Students from any residence building focus on creating an accessible, equitable, and compassionate space within the residence community. Some examples of CEEC events have been board game nights, food drives, and Pride Prom!
