Analysis: The COVID-19 variant Quebec is not talking about - Montreal Gazette, March 18, 2021

Dr. Catherine Hankins, Professor at the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health and co-chair of Canada's COVID-19 Immunity Task Force is quoted in the Montreal Gazette.

鈥淵ou can see what happens if (a variant) gets into an area, then that鈥檚 what spreads,鈥 said Dr. Catherine Hankins, a professor of public and population health at 平特五不中. 鈥淪o Abitibi-T茅miscamingue doesn鈥檛 have B.1.1.7., it鈥檚 got B.1.351.鈥 It would appear that Abitibi-T茅miscamingue is not only the B.1.351 hot spot in Quebec, but perhaps in all of Canada as well as the United States. Ontario is the second province with the greatest number of confirmed cases of B.1.351 (47), followed by British Columbia (41).
