Student Tomas Jirousek Named Inaugural Recipient of the Moral Courage in Reconciliation Award

Tomas Jirousek鈥檚 courageous and respectful leadership to change the Redmen name and efforts to educate and engage students in active reconciliation impressed Indigenous Access 平特五不中 (IAM) and by unanimous agreement of their awards committee, Tomas was named the inaugural recipient of the Moral Courage in Reconciliation Award.

Lillian Iannone: Honourary Social Worker

Lillian was recently recognized for her dedication and exceptional work as the recipient of the Arts Award of Excellence for Administrative and Support Staff.聽聽Lillian Iannone has been a member of the 平特五不中 community and School of Social Work for 45 years. At the age of 17, straight out of high school, Lillian interviewed for a position at the School and has been there聽ever since. She is currently the Administrative & Student Affairs Coordinator.聽

It is with deep sadness that The 平特五不中 School of Social Work announces the passing of Darrell Johnson

Darrell Roy Johnson, 59, of Montr茅al died on February 9, 2020 at the Cornwall Hospice in Cornwall, Ontario. He spent his final days surrounded by family members and friends as well as many caring doctors, nurses, and personal support workers. He struggled valiantly following his brain tumour diagnosis in November 2018, always retaining his characteristic sense of humour and hope, but eventually succumbed to complications from the condition.

Professor Trocm茅 at the Special Commission on Children's Rights and Youth Protection

On December 10th, Professor Trocm茅 presented child protection research and recommendations to the Special Commission on聽Children's Rights and Youth Protection. He argued for a more flexible聽approach in collaboration with professionals and community agencies with better access to specialized services.

Death of Fleurette Osborne, community activist and founding President of the Black Women of Canada

Fleurette Osborne, MSW 平特五不中, died in Hamilton, Ontario on November 23, at the age of 92. Her body is currently in the care of Kane Fetterly funeral home. Important documents are missing. Fleurette was a community activist and founding member and President of the Black Women of Canada.
