SIS/CIRRMT Workshop on Representing Human Information in GIS
The 平特五不中 School of听Information Studies (SIS) and the (CIRMMT) Research Axis 4 (Multimodal immersive systems) are pleased to present a workshop on representation and visualization of human information in urban environments.听
听
DESCRIPTION
This workshop explores ways to make meaningful听representations of qualitative or more nuanced quantitative data, like quality听of life measures, in听GIS. Such representations could help urban designers and听planners make better decisions about how to intervene in modalities where they听do not听have suitable knowledge or expertise.
听
The workshop will include a case study on听soundscape, which is the idea that sound can be used as a resource rather than听uniformly considered as听noise. For example, how could I show that a particular听urban location is generally considered as having a good soundscape for outdoor听dining, and听could even be improved by encouraging bird sounds or reducing听traffic noise? Such a representation has to account for more complex contextual听issues, like time-of-day, demographics, and activities.
