Monday, November 4, 2019 12:00to13:30
Peel 3661 3661 rue Peel, Montreal, QC, H3A 1X1, CA

With the significant development of China鈥檚 economy, China鈥檚 scientific publication is experiencing a period of rapid growth. Since 2009, China has become the second largest source country in terms of its share of international scientific production, contributing 18.6% of scientific articles indexed by Clarivate鈥檚 Web of Science (WoS). International collaboration has played an important role in China鈥檚 publication growth, contributing more than one quarter of Chinese international publications. Compared to other countries, China has its own unique scientific research system and science policies, which are not well known, even misunderstood, by the rest of the world. The misunderstanding or bias against China鈥檚 scientific research system may prevent prospective collaboration with Chinese scholars. The purpose of this workshop is to present the landscape of China鈥檚 scientific research system as well as its science policies, provide the suggestions for the prospective collaborations, clarify cultural differences, and overcome the bias and misunderstanding regarding China鈥檚 scientific activities.
