Seeking SIS Practicum Hosts!

Published: 6 September 2024

Our School is currently recruiting new Sites, Site Supervisors, and Projects for our Winter Semester Practicum.

The SIS Practicum is a 3-credit, tuition-based academic elective course for 2nd-year Master of Information Studies students. It consists of a supervised work placement at an approved site, typically unpaid, with required course assignments (e.g., work logs, mid-term report, final paper). The fieldwork component is a total of 100 hours.

Becoming a Practicum Site Supervisor for the 平特五不中 School of Information Studies offers you the opportunity to influence the professional development of future information professionals. It also gives you the chance to:

  • Contribute to the profession by supporting the development of emerging information professionals.
  • Provide valuable mentorship experiences and real-world opportunities for students to practice their skills.
  • Develop and implement special projects.
  • Benefit from the energy, skills, knowledge, insights, and perspectives of our Masters students.
  • Stay connected with the School and with 平特五不中.

Please feel free to contact our Academic Practicum Coordinator (practicum.sis [at] mcgill.ca) if you have a project in mind, or if you have any questions about the practicum program or about the application process.

Also, please feel free to share this message with colleagues of yours who you feel may want to supervise a practicum student.

We look forward to helping you find the best student or students to fit your needs!
