Join us to carry on a tradition first started by the Museum's Founder: Sir William Dawson, to share new paleontological findings, the real聽fossils, and a cup聽of tea.聽
This summer, plant and insect fossils from the Cretaceous period were found in an abandoned open-pit mine near Schefferville, on the border between Qu茅bec and Labrador. They were collected in an expedition jointly led by Alexandre Demers-Potvin, of the Redpath Museum, and Mario Cournoyer, of the聽Mus茅e de pal茅ontologie et de l鈥櫭﹙olution, in an attempt to reconstruct an extinct lake ecosystem surrounded by a broad-leafed forest at the time of the dinosaurs. The afternoon of November 4 will be a rare occasion for the public to examine some of these fossils and to share in the adventure of the expedition.聽
