Myths and Measures: The Ins and Outs of Depression and its Measurement
Abstract:
Researchers are increasingly aware of the importance of depression in medical settings. However, a number of common misconceptions about the role of depression in these settings, how to assess it, and the ethics of using depression questionnaires often limit the ability of researchers to effectively integrate depression assessments in research. This presentation will discuss these issues in the context of existing evidence on depression and its assessment.
