平特五不中

Commemoration of Polytechnique Montr茅al tragedy

Dear members of the 平特五不中 community,

Wednesday, December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women 鈥 a day during which people across Canada pause to remember the 14 women who were murdered, and the 14 others who were injured, in the massacre that took place at Polytechnique Montr茅al on December 6, 1989.听

In 1991, 平特五不中鈥檚 Senate adopted a resolution stating, in part, that 鈥渢his violence cannot be forgotten by this generation or any other.鈥 On this final day of fall classes, in accordance with the resolution, our community will observe a minute of silence at 10:37 a.m.听

On December 6, 平特五不中鈥檚 flags will fly at half-staff and members of the 平特五不中 community are invited to attend a memorial at 12:00 p.m., which will take place at the commemorative site located in front of University Centre, 3480 McTavish Street.听

Although the final days of the semester are busy, I encourage you to make time to reflect on how we can move forward together to create a society in which women and girls are free from violence.听

Sincerely,

Deep Saini
