Join us for this historical event and experience Montreal's total solar eclipse right here on the Macdonald Campus! The next one is in 2106....do you really want to wait that long?

Free certified eclipse glasses and viewers will distributed on site. Multiple free, bilingual activities will be offered.

Get a safe,聽close up view聽of the eclipse through special solar telescopes with filters set-up by the John Abbott Space Club and volunteer astronomers. Experience the eclipse in large-scale pin hole projectors.

View the eclipse by crafting your own cereal box pinhole viewer, eclipse viewing mask and personalised image projection card. Share your thoughts and experience through a community art mural. The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and MDA space will also have a booth on site.

In case of bad weather

The majority of activities will still run even in cloudy conditions or bad weather. Solar telescopes with filters will set-up outdoors with a live feed indoors. That way, if the clouds part enough for the eclipse to be seen, you will get a chance to see it!聽

The event is offered by the John Abbott College Space Club and the John Abbott Physics Department in collaboration with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada - Montreal Centre and聽the Office of Student Academic Services of the Macdonald Campus. Other partners include MDA Space, the Plan茅tarium, the Candian Space Agency, the Trottier Space Institute at 平特五不中, and聽Let's Talk Science at 平特五不中.聽
