Lavender People 鈥 Dolly Blonde聽

Lavender People is a journey down聽the Tower鈥疉rcana聽in processing聽trauma and guilt through music.聽The Tower Arcana, an iconic tarot card,聽represents crisis, adversity and聽revelation.聽Dolly Blonde dives headfirst into the destruction of the Tower Arcana 鈥斅爓hether it be pop, disco, or jazz-hybrid, each song is a confession and聽absolution. With the help of some聽amazing featured聽artists including fellow Schulich alumni聽搁别苍茅别听驰辞虫辞苍听(叠惭耻蝉鈥18),听Edwin de聽Goeij聽(BMus鈥19) and聽Conor Nickerson聽(BMus鈥19), Dolly Blonde sings of how community often raises us up, even in our darkest days. Lavender People was also funded by 鈥,聽for聽which Dolly Blonde聽(Charles Lowe, BMus鈥21)聽was selected聽in 2020.聽
Visions 鈥 闯别补苍-惭颈肠丑别濒听笔颈濒肠聽

Working in the liminal space between imagination and reality,聽Schulich Professor聽闯别补苍-惭颈肠丑别濒听笔颈濒肠聽creates an unforgettably聽beautiful聽and nuanced聽atmosphere聽with his solo piano improvisations聽on聽Visions.聽"Music, to me, is as much about seeing and telling a story as it is about hearing sound. It relates to all senses in a way that is quite mysterious and unique,鈥 shares Pilc.聽鈥淭he word聽鈥榁isions鈥櫬爀mbodies, better than any other, what I feel while creating a piece of music in the moment. Improvisation becomes an out of body experience, and you are projected into a different realm altogether. Imaginary Landscape 鈥 Stefan聽Hussong聽

German accordionist Stefan Hussong displays his mastery of contemporary works on his latest album. Out of several commissioned pieces, two are written by 平特五不中 alumni and husband-and-wife composing duo聽Hope Lee聽(MMus鈥81) and聽David Eagle聽(MMus鈥81). Lee鈥檚 work, "Imaginary Garden V" (2016), explores contrast through seven distinct scenarios illustrating her mastery of stylistic diversity. Eagle鈥檚 captivating "Refracted Tones"聽(2016) employs a hallucinatory 24-tone octave that bends and warps the ears in his beautiful composition. Both pieces are sure to enthrall.聽
Intimate Impressions 鈥撀燗nalekta聽

A powerhouse duo composed of Steve Cowan聽(DMus'19), guitar instructor at Schulich, and聽础诲补尘听颁颈肠肠丑颈濒濒颈迟迟颈聽(BMus'10), current doctoral student at Schulich, they use their impressive talents on classical guitar to聽transpose聽some of the greatest聽works聽of the 20th Century including聽pieces聽by聽Debussy, Ravel, Jolivet,聽Mompou聽and聽Tailleferre. Exploring the stylistic differences of every composer as well as infusing the recording with their charm and lyricism,聽Intimate Impressions聽creates exactly what the title promises 鈥 an intimate listening experience that sounds 鈥 and feels 鈥 fantastic.聽
Catharsis 鈥撀燝enevi猫ve Salamone聽

Stemming from her journey in confronting PTSD after 15 years of childhood sexual abuse,聽Genevi猫ve Salamone鈥檚 (BMus鈥15) debut original album,聽Catharsis, features聽powerful violin聽and synth instrumentals as well as work from Schulich聽alum聽Renee Brechtel聽(BMus鈥16). Each piece of music reflects a different emotion or memory experienced along her trauma-recovery journey, creating a breathtaking tapestry of resilience, hope, and perseverance in the era of #metoo and #MMIW.聽
