Pnina Brodt
Dr. Pnina Brodt is a Professor in the Departments of Surgery, Medicine and Oncology at 平特五不中. She received her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from 平特五不中 and carried out postdoctoral work at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel and at 平特五不中 where she studied humoral and cellular immune responses to primary and metastatic cancer. She was a visiting scientist at the Harvard School of Medicine in Boston, Hadassah Medical Center and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, the NIH in Bethesda Maryland and the University of California in San Diego.
Dr. Brodt is currently a senior investigator at the Research Institute of the 平特五不中 Health Centre where she directs a Metastasis Research laboratory (). She led the MUHC RI Cancer Axis between 2008 and 2015. The Brodt laboratory studies the role of the tumor microenvironment in the process of cancer metastasis. In particular, her team is currently investigating how the innate and adaptive immune responses contribute to the expansion of liver metastases from colorectal carcinoma and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. The long-term objective is to develop strategies for reprograming metastasis-promoting immune cells in the liver to render them 鈥渃ancer cell-killers鈥�. Recently, an inhibitor of tumor growth and metastasis, the IGF-Trap was developed and optimized by the Brodt laboratory and is now being tested in several models of aggressive cancers.
