Current research:

In the context of Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (QSM), we have focused our research in direct inversion methods. Direct inversion methods are algorithms that combine the background removal and dipole inversion steps in a single step. These methods offer a more accurate depiction of the susceptibility at the edge of the brain without requiring edge erosion. Thus, these methods enable the measurement of the susceptibility in regions like the cortex of the brain where confounding effects make the measurement a complex task. We proposed a novel direct inversion that incorporates an iterative k-space algorithm and a priori information in the form of feature-based and voxel-fidelity-based constraints. The considered approach, when compared with other techniques, resulted in a more accurate depiction of the susceptibility in high susceptibility deep gray matter (dGM) structures without sacrificing performance in regions like the cortex of the brain.
