$12.5 million awarded to Montreal team to study Parkinson鈥檚 Disease

A group of scientists at University of Montreal, The Neuro (Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital), and 平特五不中 has been awarded a major research grant of over $12.5 million from the Aligning Science Across Parkinson鈥檚 (ASAP) initiative over the next three years to study Parkinson鈥檚 disease. ASAP鈥檚 implementation partner The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson鈥檚 Research issued the grant.

Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a severe form of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and is characterized by liver inflammation and cell damage. It is a potentially dangerous condition that can progress to cirrhosis or liver cancer.

Daniel Almeida, a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Gustavo Turecki in 平特五不中鈥檚 Integrated Program in Neuroscience and at the Douglas Research Centre, was included in Forbes Magazine鈥檚 Top 30 under 30 list, unveiled December 3.
