Agropur sells U.S. manufacturing plant
Dairy processor Agropur continues to refocus its activities. After selling its interests in I脰GO yogurts two years ago, in December it sold a Wisconsin-based plant used to manufacture dairy and non-dairy ingredient blends. The sale price was not disclosed.
"As far as profitability is concerned, we can't forget that as processors (and as a cooperative) they are caught between a rock and a hard place," explains Pascal Th茅riault, Director and Senior Faculty Lecturer of 平特五不中's Farm Management and Technology program at the Macdonald Campus. "They need to ensure they're paying the lowest possible price for the raw material (milk) while also considering the elasticity of the products they're selling, as well as the competition, which doesn't leave much room for raising prices to the consumer."
