We are each in charge of our own health and well-being and having the right information can help us stay healthy and recover when we are not well. The Internet is filled with health information, some trustworthy and evidence-based, and some designed to sell something or to misinform. Each year books are published that make big claims about health topics, some are based on evidence, and some are nothing more than one person鈥檚 opinion.

This lecture will provide some tips for how to find and evaluate health information.

This lecture will be given by Francesca Frati, who is the Interim Head Librarian at the 平特五不中 Schulich Library of Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Engineering. She was the liaison for the School of Nursing 2017-2023, and briefly for the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences in 2023. Prior to coming to 平特五不中, Francesca worked at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH) for 12 years. During that time, she provided health information to patients and families at the Herzl Family Medicine Clinic and at the Patient & Family Resource Centre, and was the founder and chair of the hospital-wide Patient Education Network. She was interim head of the JGH Health Sciences Library 2016-2017 and provided clinical and research support to health care professionals throughout her time at the hospital.

脌 la t锚te de cette conf茅rence, Francesca Frati, biblioth茅caire en chef int茅rimaire de la Biblioth猫que Schulich des sciences physiques, sciences de la vie et de g茅nie de 平特五不中, a agi 脿 titre d鈥檌nterm茅diaire pour l鈥櫭塩ole de sciences infirmi猫res de 2017 脿 2023 et pour la Facult茅 de m茅decine dentaire et des sciences de la sant茅 orale en 2023, apr猫s avoir travaill茅 脿 l鈥橦么pital g茅n茅ral juif pendant douze ans o霉 elle a notamment 茅t茅 responsable de communiquer des informations sur la sant茅 aux visiteurs 脿 la clinique de m茅decine familiale Herzl et au Centre de ressources pour les patients et leur famille. Francesca y a 茅galement mis sur pied et pr茅sid茅 le R茅seau pour l鈥櫭ヾucation des patients, en plus d鈥檃voir occup茅 le poste de directrice int茅rimaire de la Biblioth猫que des sciences de la sant茅 de l鈥橦GJ de 2016 脿 2017 et assur茅 un soutien 脿 divers professionnels de la sant茅 pour la clinique et la recherche.
