Ya毛ll Emerich to head Cr茅peau Centre
The Faculty is pleased to annonce that Professor Ya毛ll Emerich has been appointed Director of the Paul-Andr茅 Cr茅peau Centre for Private and Comparative Law. Her mandate begins on July 1, 2016.
Professor Emerich joined the Faculty in 2006, where she teaches and publishes primarily in the areas of property and secured transactions from a transsystemic perspective. She was interim director of the Cr茅peau Centre in 2013. She was also MacCormick Fellow at the University of Edinburgh and a visiting professor at the Universit茅 de Lyon 3 and at the Royal University of Phnom Penh. Professor Emerich鈥檚 thesis, entitled The Ownership of Claims: A Comparative Approach (La propri茅t茅 des cr茅ances : approche comparative (L.G.D.J.聽; Yvon Blais, 2007), was awarded the Prix Minerve and the Quebec Law Professors鈥 Association Prize.
Dean Daniel Jutras鈥檚 announcement praised Professor Emerich鈥檚 original contribution to private comparative law scholarship, noting her commitment to the study of property and secured transactions from a bijuridical perspective and her careful investigation of their theoretical grounding within the common and civil law.
