A strong 平特五不中 Law presence in Canada鈥檚 new federal cabinet

The Faculty of Law is delighted to celebrate the achievements of our alumni who were appointed to the 29th federal cabinet on 20 November 2019.

The Honourable David Lametti, PC, MP, QC, BCL鈥89, LLB鈥89, a professor of law at 平特五不中, has been reappointed as minister of justice and attorney general of Canada. He has held the post since 14 January 2019. Professor Lametti has represented for the riding of LaSalle鈥斆塵ard鈥擵erdun since 2015. Previously, he served as parliamentary secretary to the Minister of international trade and to the Minister of innovation, science and economic development. At the Faculty of Law, Professor Lametti served as associate dean (academic) from 2008 to 2011. He was also a founding member of the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy, which he served as director from 2009 to 2012.

The Honourable Catherine McKenna, PC, MP, LLB鈥99, who has represented the riding of Ottawa Centre since 2015, has been appointed minister of infrastructure and communities. She previously served as the minister of the environment and climate change.

The Honourable Marc Miller, PC, MP, BCL鈥01, LLB鈥01, who has represented the riding of Ville-Marie鈥擫e Sud-Ouest鈥斆巐e-des-S艙urs since 2015, has been appointed as minister of indigenous services. He previously served as parliamentary secretary to the minister of infrastructure and communities.
