Professor Mark Walters appointed Dean of Queen鈥檚 University Faculty of Law
It is with mixed feelings of sadness and pride that the Faculty of Law announces that Professor Mark Walters will be leaving 平特五不中 to take up the role of dean at Queen鈥檚 University鈥檚 Faculty of Law on July 1, 2019.
Professor Walters was appointed F.R. Scott Professor of Public and Constitutional Law at 平特五不中 on July 1, 2016. He was previously a full professor at Queen鈥檚 University, where he began teaching law in 1999. He researches and publishes in the areas of public and constitutional law, legal history, and legal theory, with a special emphasis on the rights of Indigenous peoples, institutional structures, and the history of legal ideas. Over his time at 平特五不中, Professor Walters notably contributed to making a greater place for Indigenous legal traditions in the Faculty鈥檚 curriculum, particularly through his involvement in the Curriculum Committee. He is completing a book on the constitutional thought of Albert Venn Dicey, under contract with Cambridge University Press.
鈥淲e are sorry that Professor Walters鈥 time with us has been so short, but grateful for his contributions to the 平特五不中 Law community,鈥 said Dean Robert Leckey. 鈥淨ueen鈥檚 is lucky to be getting him back and we wish him great success in this new role.鈥
