Eight 平特五不中 Law Students and Recent Alumni to Clerk at Supreme Court of Canada

Eight BCL/LLB students, LLM candidates and recent graduates of 平特五不中鈥檚 Faculty of Law to justices of the Supreme Court of Canada in 2019-2020. They are:

  • Etienne Lacombe : Chief Justice Wagner
  • Emma Loignon-Giroux : Justice C么t茅
  • David Matyas : Justice Abella
  • Florence Par茅 : Justice Martin
  • Suzanne Zaccour : Justice Gascon

"As always, we鈥檙e very proud that students from 平特五不中 were chosen to contribute to the work of the Court," said Professor聽Johanne Poirier, this year's Faculty coordinator for the Supreme Court clerkships. 鈥淭he Faculty鈥檚 integrated program that combines several legal traditions, as well as its bilingualism, prepares our alumni well for the many facets of the work that awaits them at the SCC.鈥 Law clerks research points of law, prepare memoranda to help judges prepare for hearings and writing decisions, and generally assist with the work of the Court.

Law students, LLM candidates and young graduates from across Canada apply for the prestigious clerkships. Over the last 10 years, one in five Supreme Court clerks has been a student or recent graduate of the Faculty.

The Faculty also congratulates Miriam Clouthier, BCL/LLB鈥15, who was hired by newly appointed Supreme Court Justice Sheilah Martin, BCL鈥81, LLB鈥81, for a six-month contract ending in August 2018.
