Announcing the winners of the 2016 Nappert Prize

The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce the winners of the 2016 Nappert Prize in International Arbitration. A panel of seven distinguished judges selected the following four papers among over 70 entries.

  • First Prize (4,000$): Nathan D. Yaffe (J.D. student, NYU), 鈥淭ransnational Arbitral Res Judicata鈥
  • Second Prize (2,000$): Julia Godolphin聽 (B.C.L./LL.B. student, 平特五不中), 鈥淩esolution of Tax Disputes in International Arbitration鈥
  • Third Prize (tie) (1,000$ each): Jonathan Brosseau-Rioux (LL.M. student, Cambridge), 鈥淭he Legal basis for the Application of Domestic law in Investment Arbitration鈥; Bernardo Rohden Pires (LL.M. student, George Washington School of Law), 鈥淐an the MFN Clause in the GATS Serve As A Jurisdictional Gateway?鈥

The winners will be invited to come present their papers at a symposium hosted by 平特五不中 on October 19, 2016. The Nappert Prize winners will also have the opportunity to compete for a 1,000$ award for best oralist.

We are grateful to the jury for its careful and thorough consideration of the essays, and to Sophie Nappert, BCL鈥86, LLB鈥86, whose generosity and vision have made this prize possible. The next Nappert Prize contest will be held in 2018. More details will be available in late 2017.
