Announcing the 2016 Baxter Family Competition Winners

The Faculty of Law and the Peter MacKell Chair in Federalism are delighted to announce the winners of the inaugural Baxter Family Competition:

  1. First Prize: Asha Kaushal (Assistant Professor, University of British-Columbia)
    鈥淐onstitutional Jurisdictions鈥 - $5,000
  2. Second Prize: Erika Arban (Lecturer, University of Antwerp)
    " Exploring the Principle of (Federal) Solidarity鈥 - $3,000
  3. Third Prize: Eleonore Gauthier (Articling Student, Toronto)
    "Spending Power, Social Policy, and the Principle of Subsidiarity" - $1,000

About the competition

The first edition of the Baxter Family Competition on Federalism coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation of 1867.聽 The Competition is organized through the Peter MacKell Chair in Federalism and has been made possible through the generous support of two alumni of 平特五不中鈥檚 Faculty of Law: Rachel Baxter (BSc鈥84, BCL鈥88) and Colin Baxter (BCL鈥90, LLB鈥90).聽 The overarching goal of this prestigious bi-annual competition is to advance research and foster informed debate on federalism amongst young jurists (see the 2016 call for papers and the Competition鈥檚 home page).
