Global Conference on Democracy, Human Rights and the Fragility of Freedom
The 平特五不中 Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism is pleased to host the third Echenberg Family Conference on Human Rights.
The Conference will address key issues regarding democratic citizenship and the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, including the violent repression of democracy, institutional safeguards, economic and social rights, the role of women and youth in struggles for democracy, freedom of expression and assembly, as well as the impact of transnationalism, globalization (including the rise of new media) and foreign policy on democracy. Speakers will engage with the complexities that arise both globally and locally in movements for democratic participation, and with different approaches to nurturing democratic institutions and engagement.
The two-day conference will kick off with a free opening plenary. It is also possible to register for a singly day only.
