About the series.

罢丑别听Dialogues on Indigenous Peoples鈥 territories: stories of resilience聽series is an initiative to start conversations on Indigenous Peoples, their realities, endeavours, and positive contributions on issues of global concern. The objective will involve students, scholars, the faculty, civil society, and the larger public in meaningful discussions to foster theoretical and practical engagement to advance Indigenous Peoples鈥 rights.聽 The dialogues are coordinated by 平特五不中 Doctoral Candidate聽Luisa Castaneda-Quintana, in collaboration with the Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism and the Indigenous Law Association / Association du Droit Autochtone (ILADA).聽

About the speaker

Anne Nuorgam, S谩mi people, Chair, The United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII)

Anne Nuorgam is a long-term S谩mi politician and a lawyer who holds a Master of Law degree and is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Lapland. She has been a member of the S谩mi Parliament of Finland since 2000. Ms. Nuorgam is the Chair of Veahc虒anja虂rga Fishery. She has been working on reconciliation issues and now works as the Head of the S谩mi Council鈥檚 Human Rights Unit. 聽Ms. Nuorgam is the Chair of the UNPFII, elected in 2019 during the 18th session, and is currently conducting her second mandate.
