Engaging Sources

Friday, February 12, 2021 09:00to10:30
Engaging Sources

In order to produce your own research, you will have to engage with the research of others. Reading and synthesizing scholarly sources, however, can be intimidating and overwhelming. This workshop is designed to help graduate students learn practical ways to effectively engage with scholarly writing.

Participate in the workshop and you will:

  • Learn strategies for understanding and evaluating scholarly sources
  • Develop tools for understanding relationships between different sources
  • Practice articulating connections between sources in your own writing

You should come to the workshop with:

  • A hard copy or electronic version of 2 outside sources (articles, book chapters, etc.) that you are currently using in your research.
  • This workshop will be held online on Friday, February 12, 2021, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Registrants will receive the Zoom link in a confirmation email. Students must register for the workshop with their ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ email addresses.

Your facilitator will be Mary Towers, a Ph.D. candidate in English, who teaches writing to undergraduates and graduate students at the ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ Writing Centre.
