June is a busy month at The Neuro-Patient Resource Centre!

This month, we are highlighting not one, not two but three important health conditions:听Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), stroke, and myasthenia gravis (MG).听听听

"Each of these conditions comes with its own set of challenges, and we鈥檙e here to provide valuable resources to help patients and their families navigate their journeys."听

ALS: Understanding and managing the disease听

Receiving an ALS diagnosis brings up a lot of questions and emotions.听听

Newly diagnosed people and their loved ones frequently visit the Neuro-Patient Resource Centre to better understand and manage the disease. We recommend the Guide for people living with ALS published by ALS Canada and ALS Qu茅bec:听听听

This comprehensive guide covers all aspects of the disease as well as advice and tools for people living with ALS and their loved ones.听

Stroke: Facilitating communication and recovery听

鈥淗ow can I facilitate communication with my loved one?鈥 is one of the questions frequently asked in the Centre by a family member or friend of a person who has had a stroke and is having difficulty communicating.听听

Your Stroke Journey is an essential guide to recovery for people who had a stroke:听听听

This guide contains a section on communication that offers tips for loved ones and communication strategies.听听

Myasthenia Gravis: Mapping the patient journey听

The Neuro-Patient Resource Centre presents a new resource for people living with myasthenia gravis (MG).听听

A journey mapping of patients living with MG:听听听

What exactly is journey mapping for patients with MG?听

鈥淎 journey map examines a person鈥檚 needs, processes they follow and perceptions they have throughout their healthcare journey. In 2023, Muscular Dystrophy Canada (MDC) created our first journey map which was specifically for Canadians affected by myasthenia gravis (MG), a rare autoimmune neuromuscular condition.鈥 (Source:听, 2024)听
