Performance: Opera and Voice (M.Mus.)

Program Description

The Master of Music (M.Mus.) in Performance: Opera and Voice (Thesis) offered by the Schulich School of Music is a research-intensive program that emphasizes transformative and challenging learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in performance, communication, and knowledge synthesis to either continue their studies or pursue professional opportunities.

Unique Program Features

  • Students benefit from developing their vocal growth and artistic expression by immersing in a vibrant musical environment that blends performance training with humanities-based scholarship;
  • Voice faculty, coaches, stage directors, and set designers are outstanding soloists and creative artists involved with major companies, opera programs, and festivals the world over;
  • Three opera productions every year, including one Early Music opera with period instruments (by audition). A wide range of solo and chamber music performance include studio concerts, oratorios, Lieder classes, choral ensembles, chamber music ensembles, and master classes with leading artists in the field;
  • The School houses several performance spaces, research & production laboratories, and two libraries with a vast collection of music resources. It is also home to the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology (CIRMMT), an inter-institutional research centre containing six dedicated research labs and work spaces;
  • 平特五不中 singers are selected for competitions such as Met regionals, NATSAA and international music festivals, among a variety of other young professional artists programs.

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
