Program Description
The Master of Science, Applied (M.Sc.A.) in Nursing (Non-Thesis)聽is offered by the Ingram School of Nursing in the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences. It is tailored to those with a general undergraduate degree and no previous preparation in nursing or other health care professions.聽The program equips students with skills in critical thinking, project evaluation, and communication to pursue professional opportunities (or potentially continue their studies).
The program may also be taken as the Global Health option which focuses on the challenges of working with diverse populations in limited-resource environments, while stressing the importance of understanding the inherent power dynamics, equity issues, and ethical dilemmas that arise through this work.
Unique Program Features
- This three-year degree comprises two programs that are completed consecutively:聽
- Qualifying Year, 1 year
- Master's of Science Applied - Nursing, 2 years full time (you will apply at the start of Winter term of the Qualifying Year).
- Students complete entry-to-practice preparation in nursing while also completing graduate-level studies in nursing;
- The learning experience at the School is geared to foster individual judgment, creativity, and initiative;
- The program is led by nationally recognized researchers and clinicians, meaning students will participate in cutting-edge programs of research and knowledge translation projects related to nursing practice and administration;
- The Ingram School of Nursing is geared towards those looking to contribute to the knowledge base of advanced nursing practice and want to be involved actively in changing how healthcare is delivered locally, nationally, and internationally.
University-Level Admission Requirements
- An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
- English-language proficiency
