Entomology (M.Sc.)

Program Description

The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Entomology (Thesis) offered by the Department of Natural Resource Sciences in the Faculty of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences is a research-intensive program that emphasizes hands-on and research-oriented learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in original thinking, attention to detail, and the communication of complex ideas to either continue their studies or pursue professional opportunities.

The program may also be taken with a Neotropical Environment option: allowing students to focus their graduate research on environmental issues relevant to the Neotropics and Latin American countries.

Unique Program Features

  • Students have access to facilities and resources for aquatic, terrestrial and laboratory studies in areas such as ecology, population dynamics, pest management, physiology, pathology and systematics;
  • The Department is affiliated with the Lyman Entomological Museum and Research Laboratory which houses nearly three million specimens;
  • The Neotropical Environment option is possible through cooperation between the 平特五不中 School of Environment and with the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI).

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
