Program Description

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences offered by the Department of Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences in the Faculty of Science is a research-intensive program that emphasizes transformative and cutting-edge learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in literature review, data analysis, and academic writing to pursue professional opportunities in academia or industry.

  • The Department has close ties with Environment & Climate Change Canada's numerical weather prediction centre in Dorval (within 30 minutes of campus);
  • Students who do not continue in academia typically find employment in a variety of areas including research careers at government labs (e.g., Environment & Climate Change Canada).

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
