Students from a local high school, especially young women, were encouraged to participate in this event. They experienced talks about embarking on a career in science from multiple speakers, including GCI scientist Prof. Daniela Quail. They also engaged in fun lab workshops led by student volunteers from the GCI.
The aim of this YWiB event was to encourage young women to pursue careers in STEM by showing them that the field is accessible to them. It also allowed graduate students from the GCI to act as role models and participate in science outreach activities.
We would like to thank the incredible organizers Diana Berry and Mara Whitford, as well as all GCI trainees who volunteered and made this day a great success!
