To all family medicine clinical teachers: the new Faculty Development Module on Academic Advising is live!

We are excited to announce that the Department of Family Medicine’s Academic Advising Module is officially LIVE! All teachers are invited to participate.

Login to with your ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ email and password to join our Community of Teachers. Once you are logged into myCourses, find the ‘Teaching Hub for Family Medicine Clinical Teachers’ on your myCourses homepage. If you do not see it on your myCourses homepage, click on ‘View all courses’, and search ‘Teaching Hub’.

When you first access the Teaching Hub, click on the Getting Started tile. This is an important step as you will be prompted to set up your profile and notifications, learn how to navigate content, track your progress, and complete your first introductory discussion post. Once you have completed this, click on the ‘Academic Advising’ tile. You will first be asked to complete a short 1-minute pre-module survey. Once you submit the survey, the content for the Academic Advising module will appear and you can begin. It will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete.

After completing the Academic Advising online module, please complete the post-module survey and then join a small group session at one of our 9 teaching sites. During this 1.5 hour session, participants will share what they have learned about academic advising, review video scenarios, and discuss how to improve as academic advisors. Once you have completed the online module and the small group session, you will be eligible to claim a total of 3 CPD credits.

If you plan to attend a small group session at a site other than your home base, please advise the small group leader. If you need help connecting, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team at facdevcme.fammed [at] mcgill.ca.
