2016-2018

This project investigates the process of youth radicalization and aims to examine longitudinally, the different聽pathways to radicalization among Canadian youth. The findings will have immediate, basic and applied,聽significance in terms of enhancing current policies, tools, and resources for policymakers, politicians,聽and frontline workers (e.g., teachers, educators, social workers, psychologists and law enforcement) to聽identify, prevent, and contain the threat of terrorism. To do so, the proposed research examines the risk聽(social alienation) and resilience (social support) factors that influence young Canadians to adhere to聽groups, at home or abroad, that support violence to further an ideological cause.聽
