Swimmer, Pharmacist and bank CEO: a Desautels alumnus鈥 journey

Barclays Bank Kenya CEO Jeremy Awori (MBA鈥96) more or less fell into banking. He started out as a competitive swimmer, but when his Olympic dream fell apart he went to the UK on a scholarship and became a pharmacist.

After practicing for a few years, Mr. Awori opted for an MBA in Finance at 平特五不中鈥檚 Desautels Faculty of Management, which led him into a job at Standard Chartered Bank.

Desautel alumna appointed CFO of Northern Sphere Mining

Northern Sphere Mining Corp. has announced that Monique L. Delorme (BCom鈥88, DPA鈥91) will be taking over from Robin Pilkey as Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Delorme is already involved with Northern Sphere, having worked with the company as a consultant for the past three years.

Vancouver-based mining company Callinex Mines Inc. has announced two new appointments to its c-suite: Jordan Butler has been made VP of Corporate Development, while Matthew Anderson (BCom鈥05) has been brought onboard as Chief Financial Officer, replacing the departing Rebecca Moriarty.

Affordable water purification arrives in India

Now, a product invented by Desautels alumna Dr. Padma Venkat (IMHL鈥14) and funded in part by a $100,000 Grand Challenges Canada grant promises to alleviate the pressure on regions with little access to clean drinking water. After extensive field testing and design refinements, the Tamras device is ready for prime time.

The Desautels alumnus at the centre of a CAE/JAL joint venture

Quentin O鈥橫ahony聽is a long way from his Abbottsford, BC home. He lives, works and plays in Japan as the General Manager of CAE鈥檚 joint flight-simulator and flight training venture with Japan Airlines, a job that includes overseeing cost efficiencies, preparing the ground to expand operations, and overseeing a training centre in South Korea. He has been at it since 2015, when he helped launch the program at Haneda Airport in Tokyo.

Supremex announces addition of Desautels alumnus as CFO

Packaging specialist Supremex has announced the addition of Bertrand Jolicoeur to the executive team as Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary. Desautels alumnus featured in new sports series鈥 debut episode

Montreal-based YouTube mega-channel Watchmojo recently launched a hockey web show through its new Watchmojo Studios division. The Lineup is part panel show and part gameshow, pitting teams of personalities against each other in a hockey-trivia battle, with each episode following a specific theme. EMBA alumna on leadership, success and working in a male-dominated environment

France-Margaret B茅langer (EMBA鈥14) grew up in Matane, a world away from her current life as Chief Legal Officer at the Montreal Canadiens.
