U.S. pilot wages are rising fast & Air Canada pilots seeking to keep pace

In recent years, airline pilots in the U.S. have received impressive wage increases鈥40% at United and 34% at Delta. But the wages of Canadian pilots haven鈥檛 kept up, and the Air Line Pilots Association union has been pushing for a contract that puts Air Canada pilots鈥 wage increases closer to those of their American peers. The union and the airline have reached a tentative agreement of a 26% pay bump, followed by a 4% raise each of the next three years. 鈥淲age increases have been smaller here in Canada,鈥 said Professor Karl Moore in an interview with CBC News Network. 鈥淚n Canada, settlements were reached a while ago, and the world has changed. But it鈥檚 a fair point that Air Canada pilots deserve to have a considerable increase. The agreement they鈥檝e had for the past ten years increased wages only a couple of percentage points each year.鈥
