Seven from ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ appointed to the Order of Quebec
On June 22, seven members of the ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ community were among the 34 new appointments to the National Order of Quebec, the province’s highest civilian honour.
Included among the 20 new Knights of the Order are four ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐians. These new members include faculty membersÌýGerald BatistÌý(MDCM’77), clinical oncologist, Director of the Segal Cancer Centre and a pioneer in the field of personalized medicine; and Desautels Faculty of Management professorÌýAlain Pinsonneault, a world-renowned researcher in Information Systems. As well, a pair of alumni were also appointed as Knights of the Order, includingLaure WaridelÌý(BA’96,), co-founder of Équiterre, an environmental organization; and physicistÌýYves SiroisÌý(PhD’88), a key player in the discovery of the Higgs boson particle.
